Frequently asked questions

Why can schools choose between two options: meals at school and the grocery card?
The Youth Education Fund already had experience with offering school meals in primary schools. This project was called The Botterhammenbar. The Red Cross has (international) experience with food aid in the form of grocery cards.
In the School Meals Programme, they combine their strengths to give schools maximum choice.
Schools can choose food at school or a grocery card for parents, who can then buy a school lunch for their children. This way, we offer schools maximum freedom to choose a form of food aid that best suits their needs and capacity.
